Please join Municipal Cultural Planning Inc and County of Lambton for a free day long workshop to explore the integration of Municipal Cultural Planning into local plans for a stronger community. This is a participatory workshop where sharing your thoughts, experiences and ideas are encouraged! **Lunch and refreshments will be provided to registrants**

8:30 - 9:00 - Registration

 

9:00 - 9:30 - Welcome and Introduction

 

9:30 - 10:30 Session 1 -  Panel - Successful Integration of Municipal Cultural Planning into Local PlansCultural Planning Momentum in Lambton County. Each panellist will speak to Cultural Integration underway from their perspective and responsibility. Panellists include:

Robert Tremain - Lambton Cultural Services - Lambton's MCP Process

Kevin Edwards - Sarnia Planning Dept - Sarnia's Emerging Downtown Cultural District

Dave Posliff - Lambton Planning Dept - Culture and Lambton's new OP

10:45 - 12:00 Session 2 -  Keynote Speaker, Bob McFarland -  This presentation will examine how other jurisdictions have made use of cultural plans and begin the process of an implementation strategy for Lambton. For Bob MacFarland's bio please see below.

1:00 - 2:30 Session 3 - During this facilitated exercise - Imagining the Future of Sarnia-Lambton. We will discuss the challenge of applying MCP principles and values of a collaborative, networked, cohesive, sustainable, respectful, integrated approach - to enhancing the quality of life.  Our rural areas and small towns are unique!

2:45 - 4:00 Session 4 -  ArtsBuild Ontario will be presenting their newly created ArtsBuild Ontario Facilities Portal - the first comprehensive and interactive online advocacy tool that will centrally house up to date information about non-profit arts organizations facilities, and their facilities needs, in Ontario.  ArtsBuild Ontario will be able to use this information to report accurately on the state of arts facilities in Ontario, thus strengthening and supporting, our need for increased infrastructure and facilities funding in the Arts sector.

This presentation is applicable to any stakeholder, arts organization or municipal employee concerned about the investment in arts and culture in their community.

Arts Build Ontario is an organization that supports the health of Ontario's arts organizations by creating and realizing long-term solutions for their facility challenges.

Bio-Bob McFarland

Bob McFarland recently finished a 40 year career that included work in the television, film and theatre production business as well as a long and progressive career in municipal arts, culture, parks and recreation administration in five communities in Alberta and Ontario.  He is now happily retired in Woodstock and helping to promote the growth of vibrant communities in Southwestern Ontario.
